Measuring tool specialist STABILA has recently opened the doors to a new production hall measuring 1400 m2 for the production of spirit levels at its site in Annweiler in the Palatinate. The company has invested more than EUR 5 million in the new building and the new machinery that it houses. This space is designed to help STABILA meet increased demand for high-quality spirit levels that are made in Germany.

Optimised processes
Since the company’s very beginnings, STABILA has manufactured all its spirit levels – around 12,000 per day – in Annweiler. They are then sold in more than 80 countries around the world. The additional space in the new building has provided the opportunity to improve processes in various areas – ranging from pre-production and plastic production to assembly – and to integrate new machinery into the existing production process, which in turn allows even higher quantities to be produced.

Focus on in-house processes
Manufacturing spirit levels at STABILA is a process that relies heavily on the skills of those working in-house. Only raw materials such as metals and granulates are bought in. Every spirit level component is then produced and assembled in Annweiler. “This is the only way to guarantee our outstanding STABILA quality at all times”, explains CEO Dr Ulrich Dähne. When purchasing machines for the new building – as with all of the machinery acquired in recent years – the company’s main priority was to ensure ergonomic operation combined with convenient material infeed and output facilities. In addition, quick and continuous machining helps to ensure high efficiency. “Our ongoing investments are playing a major role in safeguarding STABILA’s future and the jobs it provides”, concludes Dr Dähne.
